Heartland Ambassador Hotel Hamilton

The room was on the small side, but cosy, clean, and comfortable, which was what mattered to us. We really enjoyed our stay at the Heartland Ambassador Hotel and would happily return. It's very central, close to everything in Hamilton, and getting around was easy. There was plenty of parking throughout our stay. The Wi-Fi was spotty at times, and we had a small hiccup that meant resetting the TV. The instructions were clear, though, and the lady on the phone guided us through it smoothly. A pleasant stay.

We were trying to do laundry, but reception wouldn't exchange cash for coins or charge our credit card, because company policy didn't allow it. We had $12 cash, enough for two $4 washing loads, leaving only $4 in coins to dry them. I walked over 1km to the nearest ATM, tried several machines, and none would accept any of my six cards. After Ubering back to the hotel, I asked again if they could help with coins to finish drying our clothes. The employee repeated the policy, but gave me $8 from his own pocket. Thank you to him. Without those coins, we'd have had to pack wet clothes for our flight back to Australia. In this day and age of a cashless societi, that policy seems far too rigid and stopped the employee from helping us. You should update it right away or provide a coin exchange facility for guests using the laundry. The situation put my physical and mental health under unnecessary strain and left us in a bad frame of mind on our last night in NZ. Our overnight stay was far from comfortable because of this stressful experience.

The location was a real convenience, close to Pak’n’Save and essential shops like petrol stations and chemists. The hotel also has self-serve laundry, which is handy for families. Just remember to buy tokens from reception before using it. We had a pleasant stay and would recommend it to families wanting space, convenience, and good service. Our family of six fitted comfortably across a Superior Twin Queen room (Room 303) and a 1-Bedroom Motel Unit (Room 231). Both were clean, spacious, and well stocked. The front desk staff were professional and kind, and made us feel very welcome. The pool was nice and cold and conveniently located inside the facility. Breakfast from the onsite café was decent and a good start to the day. One thing to take extra care with is the older-style combined bathtub and shower.

Our family room was right in front of the pool, but with the sliding door shut we couldn't hear either the road or pool noise. The little balcony outside was the icing on the cake. Breakfast was included and super delicious, and we loved the pool and spa. The rooms and beds were tidy and comfy, and the service was amazing. We absolutely loved our stay. This will be our go-to place whenever we come to Hamilton.
