The views from the rooms are magnificent, and the hostess was lovely. She suggested plenty of things to see and do nearby, and there really is a lot in the area. Happy hour runs from 5-6, with some nice New Zealand wines and a chance to meet other travelers. There's also a nice pub within walking distance, so we didn't need to drive after drinks. It's a small B&B with only four rooms. We've stayed in some great places while traveling around New Zealand, and this one was right up there.

It was easy to get to know the other guests in this small place, and the shared gathering area was comfortable. Sue Ellen gave us useful information and suggestions, and breakfast was very tasty. The setting is absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful scenery and a lovely room. Rimu Lodge deserves its 5.0 rating. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

Rimu Lodge was an unexpected gem and one of the highlights of our South Island trip. Such a beautiful place, with wonderful attention to detail from our host Sue-Ellen. Highly recommend.

We couldn't fault Sue Ellen. She's a natural, kind and welcoming hostess who gave us lots of ideas for things to do nearby. Breakfast was perfect, just like she is.

The view was gorgeous, and the rooms were comfortable and well appointed. We had a lovely, friendly, clean stay. Afternoon happy hour was a great chance to chat with the host and the other guests.
