Stumpers

The price was reasonable, and the place was clean and tidy, with a great location. Stumpers worked pretty well for the start of our holiday. The rooms and bed were small, though. I was worried there was no dedicated parking, but it turned out fine: we parked roadside right outside the accommodation.

Being right in the town centre is a big plus, and the beachfront is an easy walk away. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was adequate and both rooms were very clean. We booked a twin room and could do basic cooking in the kitchenette, though there was no table or other seating. Ours faced the rear parking area. The key was meant to open the rear entry from the car park, but something was jammed in the keyhole. Staff tried to sort it out and left the door propped open until later in the evening so we could get in easily. It was a quiet night, and we didn’t hear the other nearby rooms. I’d call it an upmarket backpackers.

The best part was the shower, with lovely hot water and great pressure. Otherwise, the room was just functional: small, with no cupboard at all. The air conditioning didn’t work, and street and bar noise meant we couldn’t open the windows. There’s no parking, so we had to leave the car on the street and get up early to move it to avoid a fine. The bed was soft.

I was part of a large group of women staying for our annual cancer camp over a long weekend. The staff made us feel welcome and were very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were fabulous and got serviced every day during our three-day stay. The restaurant food was fabulous too, and they catered to all our needs. Thanks for a really enjoyable stay.
