Pineacres Motel And Park

We booked two units and were given #3 and #4. They looked tidy and clean, but the beds were uncomfortable and neither heat pump would work. We nearly froze. We tried six times in total to reach someone for help with the heaters and got no response. Apparently the manager had fallen, and no one was there to help him up until staff arrived for their Sunday morning shift. That’s very sad for him, but when we checked out at 10am, nobody was around to ask for a discount. We won’t recommend this place.

The rooms are simple but have everything you need, and there’s a bar out front with lovely staff. The owner was amazing, great for a bit of banter, and really accommodating. There’d been overbookings through third party booking apps, but he worked it out for us. We stayed here before flying out of Christchurch, and an Uber to the airport costs around 50nzd. True kiwi hospitality. Chur!

I live here and Wayne is great, a really nice person. The place is clean and well kept, and good value for money, but the owners have let it go and it badly needs an upgrade. Be warned, there’s no difference or gauge between hot and absolutely boiling water at any of the hand basins. I’ve nearly burned myself on the taps a lot.

I’d heard stories about this place, so I had to see it myself. The manager was well mannered, and everything was well presented. I walked around the grounds, and it was nothing like what I’d heard. The owner and a young fella took care of the rubbish every day during my three-night stay. The price was awesome, it had everything, and it was warm. Having a pub nearby was convenient. Seeing children happily playing and behaving well was a bonus. Friendly people. Awesome 👍
