On a wet winter evening, the family pub was warm and cosy, with a roaring fire and a real friendly Irish atmosphere. The service was welcoming, and the meal was amazing: chicken pieces with chilli sauce, fries, and salad. The portions were huge, and with costs rising and things uncertain, the meals are truly good value and beyond expectations. We'd happily return next time we're on the South Island for more of that southern hospitality.

The fish tacos and Irish Stew were spectacular, and I recommend both. Other meals looked great too, and every plate came back clean. The owners were really friendly, attentive, and full of helpful suggestions. It's great value, with beautiful grounds that would be amazing for large groups, special occasions, or even a wedding. Families are well catered for, with a playground, connect 4, and lawns to run around on. We'll be back.

We came across this campsite during a storm, looking for somewhere sheltered, and were definitely not disappointed. The staff were super friendly, and there were great powered and non-powered sites with water. It's a bonus that the vans are only a few feet from the bar, so it's an easy stagger back.

I stayed over Easter weekend. Camp mate wouldn't let me leave a review, so I'm writing one here. The grounds suit both self-contained and non-self-contained vehicles. Toilets and showers were nice and clean, and showers take two $2 coins for hot water. You can get coins at the bar. There were plenty of people around, but it still wasn't full, even on a holiday weekend. The staff were all super nice and accommodating. It's worth going to the bar for food and drinks. Just a 10-minute drive from kaikoura town centre. Would recommend.

We stopped here for the night and were really happy with it. The meals were superb, the accommodation was perfect, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Having paddocks on site for our horses was an extra bonus. Woohoo, we’ll be back. Well done, team! J Monk
