We were sorry to leave. Ash & Floyd were terrific hosts, nothing was too much trouble, and they even invited us out to b/fast on our last morning. The chalet is in such a quiet setting, right across from the beach. There’s a huge, fully equipped kitchen, though plenty of cafes and restaurants are close by. The king bed was incredibly comfy, with electric blankets, and there’s a washing machine and cosy electric log fire. That fire was a winner. We also found seal Cove scenic and Fyffe house really interesting.

The owners are a young couple with expert local knowledge, and they gave us excellent suggestions for places to visit. Bay Cottages is right across the road from the beach, and the distance from town helps keep it so quiet. Our two nights there were spacious and comfortable. The washing machine was very handy, so we could carry on travelling with clean clothes. I highly recommend staying at Bay Cottages.

My wife and I spent one night here around early New Years 2025. The rooms were beautiful, clean and quiet. I’ve just recommended it to my daughter, and we’d come back too.

The patchy wifi wasn’t great for anything that needed a strong signal. Still, I’d definitely stay again. It’s a lovely standalone motel type unit, with a large bed, well equipped kitchen and cosy lounge. The electric fire place was much appreciated.

Gus and Marisa were really helpful and accommodating. We were in Kaikoura partly for work and partly for R&R, and couldn’t have picked a better place. It was quiet, very clean and spacious, with great hosts and lovely cats. No kids allowed.
