I didn’t enjoy our night here. Our unit was right beside the main road and so noisy that I had to wear earplugs. It was a long way from the main town area, and the room was very dated and basic, with a huge step to get in and a tiny, terrible shower. The man who greeted me at reception was very unfriendly.

It’s an older motel, but it’s been very well looked after. The beds are good quality, the kitchenette is well equipped, and it was surprisingly quiet considering it’s on SH1.

Our ferry arrived in Picton late, so we got there after check-in had closed. I called ahead, and they were very friendly about it and left a key for us. We got in without trouble and had a nice, clean, comfortable stay. 👌

The room’s definitely older, but it was clean and comfortable, and the price was good for Kaikoura. Staff were friendly. It’s a short drive or a long walk from the centre. The beds were comfy, and the small kitchen was well equipped.
