We paid 25 NZD to park on a patch of grass, with no shower, drinking water, or proper toilet facilities. That's very poor value and unacceptable for the price. The owner was unfriendly and intrusive. We felt watched the whole time, and whenever we stood in one place for a while, the owner came over. There was no sense of privacy or welcome; it felt more like being monitored. This felt less like a relaxed bed and breakfast and more like being charged to camp somewhere while being made uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend it. There are much more welcoming options around Kaikōura for the same price or less.

We've camped our caravan at The Point, Kaikoura, on several occasions. This is an NZMCA camp-site for self-contained campers and caravans, though you don't have to be a member. It's $25 per caravan per night, and there's tap water and rubbish disposal. We love how easy it is to reach the beach and peninsula walks, and the grassy paddock has great sea views.

The camper spot was stunning, right across from the ocean and the seafood BBQ, and it's close to the seal colony. We stayed overnight in our self-contained campervan. They were very helpful when we called to arrange a spot, and payment was easy. Great place!

We went to the sheep shearing show and found it interesting and informative. Getting to hold a baby sheep, take pictures, and feed a ram by hand was an unexpected bonus. A delightful experience!

We had a great view of the night sky from the campsite, perfect for stargazing. The owner was very friendly and always ready to help with what we needed. Highly recommend!
