Paik and Roy added so much to our visit, sharing their knowledge of the region and New Zealand, along with thoughtful perspectives on life. That’s what makes staying in someone’s home different from a sterile hotel. The home itself has charming, modern, visually engaging architecture, just as the photos show. New Zealand felt like a breath of fresh air, full of plants, birds, and nature. After decades of travel, these hosts set a benchmark for us. We recommend this accommodation.

After a hotel lost our booking, we reserved River stone lodge at the last minute and ended up in a great place. It’s luxurious and super clean, but still feels like staying at a friend’s house. Roy and Paik are lovely, always happy to help and good company when you feel like a chat. We’ll definitely be back again and again.

The rural views are breathtaking, and the pool is fantastic. I didn’t want to leave this clean, modern, luxurious sanctuary. Paik and Roy welcomed me warmly into their beautiful home, and looked after all my needs. Breakfast was delicious. I’ll be back with my family to enjoy their manaakitanga (care and hospitality) and aroha (love). Thank you, Paik, Roy, and Sacha. Kore mutu rawa ngā mihi. I can’t thank you enough.

Everything else about our stay was enjoyable. The place was clean and well looked after, and the hosts were really nice. Things were uncomplicated, too. Still, the room was very hot, and the windows wouldn’t open all the way to let in cooler air. The mattress I slept on was incredibly hard, and I woke up several times during the night because of the heat. I’d give it more stars if not for those issues.
