Alpine Studio Coulson

The bed was thin and hard, like sleeping on plywood. The room itself was clean and nice, and the location was excellent for getting to Lake Tekapo and going stargazing at night.

The view from the room and Alpine STUDIO AT LAKE TEKAPO was heavenly. I had a nice stay, with clean rooms, good arrangements, and very good amenities.

We could hear everything from the next room, and reception wasn't any help to us.

For $200 a night, this hotel is unbeatable value compared with the motels and hotels I've stayed in around New Zealand. Step outside and you can see snow-capped mountains. The design is modern, the room has a basic kitchenette, and there's a hairdryer imported from Germany. The bedding made it easy to fall asleep, and the Chinese-brand air conditioner is so quiet you can't hear it. It makes the local options look absurd: places charging $200 without a hairdryer, or $150 without a bathroom, should all shut down. More and more Chinese people are being invited to open hotels around the world and buy goods or services from Chinese companies. It feels like you're making money instead of spending it!
