The Famous Grouse Hotel

The food was good, the service was excellent, and the rooms were nice. Still, I regret booking a room in a pub. Karaoke downstairs was so loud that sleep was out of the question, and on some songs the bass was strong enough to make the bed vibrate. I’d read comments saying the rooms were quiet, and the Booking.com listing mentioned soundproofing, so I booked based on that. I should have known better. Only stay at The Famous Grousse if you’re okay being awake until midnight.

Kaia was a fantastic waitress at our family birthday dinner on Wednesday the 4th, and her upbeat attitude really lifted the evening. My chicken alfredo was great. The extra chicken in the photo was from my mum’s plate because she couldn’t finish it. Dad thought his lamb shanks tasted a bit green, so that might be worth checking. The roadworks made getting in annoying, though that wasn’t the Grouse’s fault. I also miss having chicken parmigiana and the brownie with ice cream on the menu. Still, I had a good night.

We waited an hour after ordering our drinks and food at the bar before realizing our order had been completely forgotten. They offered a full refund, but the bar and kitchen seemed to be run by clearly inexperienced staff, especially on a busy night. We left disappointed and hungry.

Xavier made my time at the Grouse Lincoln a great experience. He was an unbelievable bartender, stayed positive, and seemed to have good intentions toward me and my friends. He even drove us home in the courtesy van. The venue was great too, but the staff, especially Exavier, made the visit.
