The facilities were immaculate and very pleasant to use, and it’s a great spot for fishing and for kids to swim. There’s plenty to do, so I’d go back. Our booking got mixed up, though, and after a long journey we had to wait with young kids in the car who just wanted to get out. They did sort it out and handled that well. We’d booked a campsite and small cabin. The cabin was otherwise very nice, but it had ants in it. The main downside was prickles all through the grass. Walking around barefoot is one of the best parts of camping, but the kids hated having to keep their shoes on, and so did I.

The kids had a great time exploring the marine life. Swimming in the estuary felt safe, and with aqua shoes you can walk along the water's edge to the next bay. Some of us snorkeled there too. We saw loads of fish, including a massive school, as well as kinas and Octopus. The grounds are quiet and close to Mangawhai town centre. We camped with three families, eight children in all, using rooftop tents and tents. The grounds and facilities were clean, the showers had great water pressure, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Excellent place to stay, and highly recommended.

Our small group of motorhome friends really enjoyed the venue, with its seaside setting, beautiful views and relaxing feel. Everything was so clean, the facilities were excellent, and there was a covered area where we could meet up. The booking process, helpful support and communication were all excellent too. We’ll be back and would highly recommend it.

We always enjoy coming back. The sites are a good size, the facilities are clean, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. It’s right on the estuary, with other beautiful beaches nearby. Highly recommended.

Great place to come with family or friends. The bathrooms, kitchen, laundry and outdoor BBQs were clean and well maintained, and there are fridges in the kitchen too. Showers cost $1 for 5 minutes, so bear that in mind if it’s your first visit. The staff can provide cash outs, and they’re excellent at explaining where things are. The gates open at 6am and close at 10:30pm. No dogs are allowed. Bring sunscreen because it gets hot up here, and pack your fishing rods. There’s a good fishing spot on the rocks at the far left, plus a boat ramp and a jeti.
