Sharon clearly knows her way around both food and wine. Our three-course dinner, prawns, lamb, and chocolate dessert, was delicious, and the white and two red wines from the property complemented it beautifully. We were welcomed with a glass of their 2017 pinot Gris and a cheese platter, and the wine was topped up before long. Sharon runs the hotel and vineyard as well as cooking. The setting is gorgeous, tucked among the vines, with rolling hills stretching toward the sea and distant islands. We spent one night on the dinner, bed, and breakfast package. Would I stay again? In a heartbeat. Sadly, we live in the UK.

Sharon made our stay feel relaxed from the start, and she’s an amazing host. She arranged rides to and from Matakana while we went to Jin Jin for dinner, which we also recommend. Afterward, the fire was going, and she brought us wine. We had some lovely conversations. Earlier, she’d welcomed us with bubbles, a platter, and wines to try, and she knows so much about the wine and area. Breakfast the next morning was beautifully prepared, two courses, with an awesome view. Highly recommend staying a night or two!

Sharon paid attention to what we liked and didn’t like eating, then adapted the menu for us. The dinner in our package was delicious and came with wines from the vineyard. We were greeted with wine and cheese, then had canapes and another wine before dinner. Breakfast was delicious as well, including homemade bread. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. Sharon was an excellent host and took care of us and the other couple staying that night.

The lodge and vineyard, along with the delicious wine, made the stay feel magical. Sharon was a wonderful host and chef, and her food is some of the best I’ve had. It was a perfect visit, and I’m already planning another.
