Looking back on our February trip to New Zealand this year, this was definitely one of our favorite places. Vicky and Rodger were among the kindest hosts we’ve ever met. Beautiful location!

We knew we’d picked the right place as soon as we saw the stunning balcony view and fresh flowers in our room. My wife and I stayed five nights in December 2022 at Waiwurrie, in a beautiful, isolated corner of the northeastern North Island, overlooking a bay with several beaches. I swam every day, and we took an official tramp across the bay, over the hills and out to the water. Seeing our bay and the neighboring one was spectacular, and the isolation let us be out in nature. Vickie and Rodger were warm, welcoming, and helpful. Breakfasts were plentiful and fabulous, and on several nights they cooked thoughtful, great dinners at reasonable prices. We drank wine, some made from grapes grown on their land, and talked about all sorts of subjects. They like people. As greenhorns, as we say in American slang, we got a wonderful chance to learn about New Zealand and New Zealanders, and even got a tour of the farm. We highly recommend Waiwurrie.

We called our stay at Waiwurrie heaven on earth. The place is fabulous, with a magnificent view over the bay. Vicky and Rodger are fantastic hosts and make you feel at home.

The view is spectacular, and it’s a very beautiful place. Roger and Vic are lovely hosts. When we arrived, we introduced ourselves and were offered wine or whatever we wanted to drink. They were very kind and called the bus company for us so we could go to Cape Reina. That saved us from driving 300 km. It was a pleasure.
