The chef went out of their way to make me a delicious meal that worked with my food allergies, after the staff checked with them about what I could eat. I really appreciated how helpful they were, thank you 😁. We visited on a weeknight and it wasn't too busy. The service was great, and this is a lovely country pub with lovely pub meals.

A comfortable, good-value place to pause on a long drive. We were on our way to Queenstown and then Picton for a ferry, and it worked perfectly as a break. We happened to be the only guests that day, so it was nice and quiet. The rooms were very clean and easy to get into, and the instructions were clear, so finding our way was no problem.

The girls looking after us were lovely, and we had a good chat with them. The shower was great, and the shared areas and showers were very clean. Our room was well priced and had everything we needed without anything unnecessary. There was only a little milk, not enough for two coffees, but that's minor next to all the good parts of our stay. Thank you, Brown Pub.

The kids sundae was just perfect! Food was what you'd expect from an average pub, nothing especially unique, but still good. Our food and drinks arrived quickly, and the staff were so friendly. I'd definitely recommend it for a night out.

A classic country pub and the locals' spot in Methven, with a great atmosphere, a good beer selection, friendly staff, and good food. Worth stopping in, though on a nice day you'll probably head across the road to the garden bar.
