Avalon Manor Motel

We got to watch the sunset from the back patio, and Chris and Kaylene made the stay easy. They arranged an early check-in so we could unload our luggage before our Abel Tasman cruise, and gave us a great room on the ground floor. It was clean, tidy, and had all the amenities. Five stars, we'd definitely stay again.

Motueka had everything we needed, and this motel made a great base for day trips and hikes in Abel Tasman. It felt genuinely homely, and the owners were friendly and helpful, clearly putting a lot of care into the place. We'd absolutely stay again and highly recommend it.

I've stayed here twice while working at Nelson Aviation College in Motueka, once in October and again in November, and both visits were wonderful. Kathleen greeted me so warmly the first time that we ended up chatting like old friends. On my second visit last Sunday, her husband welcomed me and upgraded me to a lovely room. I only wish I'd had longer on both stays. I'd highly recommend the place if you're in Motueka, going to Abel Tasman, or visiting Nelson. I'll definitely come back for work or leisure.

The host was unfriendly from check-in through checkout. When we mentioned the heat pump remote had no batteries, the electric blanket wasn't working, the fridge had been switched off, and our unit's parking space wasn't available, he didn't seem concerned. He said it wasn't cold, told us to park elsewhere, and said we'd have to wait for a part for the electric blanket. It was never replaced during our four nights. At checkout he was just as unfriendly and didn't even look at me. We definitely wouldn't stay again because of his inhospitable manner and unwillingness to help.
