Mid City Accommodation

The room was dark, with no proper heating or lighting, and there was no cleanliness at all. The ceiling leaked, the toilet tank didn’t work properly, and the electric blanket sparked. They didn’t fix it or give us another blanket. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The room was warm and dry, and the sheets were nice. The big bed was very soft, though, and we could hear movement through the ceiling and walls. Reception was friendly, and the facilities were okay. It’s fine on a budget or for one night.

The first room was mouldy and filthy, especially the bathroom ceiling, which badly needed cleaning. The lights didn’t work, and when they tried taping the breaker on without fixing it, we were moved to other rooms that were just as dirty and mouldy. Ants were crawling around one room’s kitchen sink and counter, and I found an old bandage stuck to the bed base. Absolutely disgusting. I wouldn’t recommend it, and would stay far away.

For under $100, my room was right in the centre of Nelson, and the value was great. It’s budget accommodation with an early 80s look, but the room was clean and had a tidy bathroom and a kitchen. If you’re after simple comfort and a good price, this is a good option. It’s not the Ritz.
