Amber Court Motel

I feel ripped off. We booked a weekend with the kids because the signs and website said HEATED POOL, but arrived to find a cold pool and a so-called "spa pool" that was more like a swamp, stinking of stagnant water with brown bubbles. The room was just as bad: the shower swung between scalding hot and freezing cold, the bed covers were filthy, the pillows were thin, and the door banged loudly all night. The signs around the property were missing half their letters and covered in mould. We were told the rooms are used as emergency housing. When we complained about the false advertising, the overpriced stay and the conditions, they refused responsibility and made excuses. The attitude was poor too. An apology would have been nice. This place is an absolute joke and should be shut down. Taking money for people to stay in this shack is robbery. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!

It was pretty much standard motel stuff, and our room wasn’t dirty or disgusting. We didn’t find any ants, and the TV and Sky worked. The WiFi and freezer didn’t work at all, though. I’d ask for a room away from the street, since I can imagine these rooms get pretty noisy.

The location was good, and the receptionist was five stars, but our three nights in the two bedroom unit were a bad experience. After sleeping on the lounge bed, my daughter woke up covered in bites. The unit was unclean and damp, with a musty bedroom, dirty shower and not enough heating. Condensation kept forming in the bathroom and main bedroom even with the windows open. The street-facing window wasn’t secure and rattled, and the iron fence behind the unit banged all night. The heated pool claim was a joke, it wasn’t heated, and the spa pool was gross. We’d stayed before in a studio unit and had recommended the place to others, but we’ll never stay there again.

We’ve stayed here twice and would happily come back. The location is handy, parking is good, and the rooms are clean and have what you need. The staff made us feel welcome, too. We arrived after closing time, but they waited for us and had left the heat pump on. Great value.
