Plymouth International

The location worked really well for my partner and me. We like walking, and the town centre was less than a 15-minute brisk walk away. Fitzroy Beach took about 10 minutes, and there were plenty of places to eat within a couple of blocks, including the hotel restaurant. I'd happily stay again. Staff were mostly very friendly and helpful, knew the area, and were available when needed. The room had comfortable beds, decent facilities, a nice TV, and a well-laid-out bathroom, though it was a bit small. Towels were soft and fluffy, the amenities were decent, and all the fixtures felt solid. I think I had a recently renovated room, but the whole hotel seemed in good order, so I'm not sure how much that mattered. The hotel also has a decent gym, a nice heated pool, and a spa pool. The spa was the one thing I noticed that needed some maintenance. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, though there wasn't much variety and it wasn't better than a good three- or four-star hotel. For example, there were no pastries with the continental breakfast.

We booked at the last minute after a long day of hiking and arrived cold and tired. It was a great find in New Plymouth: a warm, fancy hotel with lovely rooms, easy parking, a heated pool, and a gym. Manager Dan was super friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We liked it so much that we stayed another night. Highly recommended. Thanks, Dan and staff!

The Orangery Restaurant was a highlight, the food was delicious and the service was awesome. Everyone at the hotel was so friendly and helpful, and happy to have a laugh with us. Marie also made arranging the stay really easy. Our six rooms were clean, roomy, joined together perfectly, and close to the pool. It’s an easy walk into town and to the supermarket. Thanks to Plymouth International for having us, the Wanganui Well Drillers staff will definitely be back.

Cathy at the desk was a huge help, both when I booked months ahead and needed to change dates because of road closures, and again at check-in, which was very easy. The rooms are modern, well presented and fantastic. I didn’t use the facilities, but the ones I saw looked tidy and clean. I’ll stay at Plymouth International again for the next golf trip to the region.
