Carnmore Hotel Takapuna

We ended up staying three extra days at Carnmore Hotel Takapuna, extending our original plan from 9 February to 12 February 2026. My husband and I had arrived on 30 January, and enjoyed it enough to recommend it to everyone. The beach is a short, direct walk away, and we could reach everything else we needed on foot too. Our quiet room was spacious and clean, with sunlight and fresh air, and we loved the wrap around balcony. The building has an attractive style, the price was reasonable, and having laundry on site was handy. All the staff, from reception to room cleaning, were attentive and personable. It was a genuinely hospitable stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. The reception staff were lovely and helpful, and having laundry on site was useful. The rooms were large and had air-conditioning, though the television connections weren’t stable when we tried to watch. The pool and fitness area were there, but I didn’t use either. The beach and Takapuna are both an easy walk, with plenty of places to eat. It’s convenient for the bus into Auckland too, and Tuff Crater Park Run is about a 30 minute walk away, or you can take a bus.

The welcoming brownies were a lovely, delicious touch, and the staff were friendly and attentive, especially Ajin. Our room was clean and comfortable, which made for a very pleasant, stress-free stay. We were there for two nights after travelling from London, while waiting in Auckland for our luggage that had been left behind in Doha. It was a relief during an otherwise inconvenient situation.

The beach is right nearby, and the neighborhood was quiet. Our room was clean and comfortable, and for the price it felt like good value. Nothing was overhyped or pretending to be luxury. I stayed one night and had no problems. Easy five stars from me.
