Dan, the manager, was great and had plenty of useful information. He let us choose between rooms. The WiFi was fast, the water pressure great, and the city views superb. You have to appreciate classic Victorian style, but we had a lovely experience in a perfect location. There's no restaurant, though dozens of great places are within walking distance. We'll definitely stay again.

We had a top-floor room with lovely views across to Auckland city and the ferry building. The bed was comfortable and the shower pressure fantastic. No complaints.

We loved our stay in the huge Victoria suite room #104. The views were great, and a ferry to downtown Auckland goes every 15 / 20 minutes. There are restaurants nearby for all styles, and the sunset in town is the best 👌 It's a historical hotel in a great location. We were told that many government officials from different countries stayed here back in the 40's, 50's and 60's, and that Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers stayed in more recent years. ❤️

The location made it easy to wander around historic Devonport, and we could also catch the ferry into the city for a fun night out. I was unsure about staying here because of the average reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. The bed was comfy, the shower pressure was great, and the large spa bath was big enough for two. We stayed one night last week and would definitely come back. Thanks!

Dan was incredibly helpful at reception when we arrived, and the location is amazing for a very reasonable price. The old building looks beautiful, though the rooms feel a bit dated and could use an upgrade.
