Eden Gardens Motel

There’s a nice ocean view and a very friendly resident cat, but I don’t think I’d stay again. It’s a bit spooky being part of an old hospital, and the rooms are pretty tight with really uncomfortable beds. When I arrived, nobody was at reception, so I had to call a number to get someone to come check me in. If you’re on a budget, give it a try.

The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful, and really nice people. The rooms were smaller than you’d normally get, but the bed was super comfortable and the bathroom seemed fairly recently renovated. The Eden Gardens sits up on the hill, away from the other motels on the main drag, with great views over town and the Pacific Ocean.

The room is small and has only a kettle and instant coffee. I’d have liked a coffee press. The shared area has a toaster and microwave, but no cooktop or electric frying pan. It was clean.

We got a friendly welcome, and the rooms were comfortable and tidy with nice bathrooms. It can get noisy when other people are staying, especially when doors bang shut.
