We stayed two nights, and for $275 a night this was one of the worst value budget rooms I've had. It wasn't as advertised: the supposed two bedroom setup was a bed in the lounge and another in a room, though the website showed two separate rooms with doors. There were flies in the room when we arrived. At least there was spray, but maybe fly screens would help if this is a known issue. The toilet seat was smaller than the porcelain, leaving a gap at the front, and the lid kept dropping onto your back. No fan in the toilet, the bathroom door wouldn't lock, and the shower head wouldn't stay up, so we agreed not to remove it from its holder. The walls were paper thin, and you couldn't tell whether someone was knocking to shush you or had just tapped the wall by accident. The people were nice enough, but they didn't seem to care about whether things in the room worked. It felt like the sort of place you'd expect for $100 a week in a student house, not $275 a night. I'd never stay again.

Not impressed at all. We paid $150 for each room. Mine was better than our mates' room, which had an old, tatty bathroom, no cooktop, and a crappy kitchenette. He couldn't even get the TV working. In our room there was no TV remote, the shower was broken so we couldn't shower, and the toilet roll holder fell off the wall. I rang the owner about the shower. He said he'd come look that night, but we were already undressed, and at 8:30 pm he wasn't going to get a new hose then, was he? This place seriously needs a lot of maintenance.

The room was incredibly spacious and clean, and the hosts were helpful about everything. I’d definitely come back. It’s a perfect setup if you want a full kitchen in your room and plan to cook and eat in.

The room facilities feel old, and the soundproofing needs work. There was a weird noise coming from the ceiling, too. Ventilation wasn't good, since there was no exhaust fan in the washroom.

It’s well insulated, so there was no traffic noise or sound from the other units, and there’s plenty of parking. The place has a really good vibe, with lots of space, and it’s very central. I’d always stay here when I need somewhere in Oamaru.
