We expected a pretty average backpackers stay, but Tussock Grove surprised us with home-cooked meals and warm, personal service. Chris was really friendly and helpful, and everything was taken care of, which made the whole weekend very affordable. We had a great time and will certainly return. Absolutely awesome, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

This was my second time at Tussock Grove, and Chris again went out of his way to keep everything comfortable and well organised. The rooms are a good size, the home-cooked food is great, and the advice and service were helpful. We’ll be back!

We bought a GrabOne package and it was well worth it. The facilities were great, and the owner was friendly and went above and beyond. I’ve never been to a lodge or motel that gave us a breakfast menu and let us have our eggs cooked however we liked 😁

Tussock Grove is a great find in Ohakune, centrally located and relaxed. The service and accommodation were superb. I’d definitely stay there again.

The owner was very friendly, but I wasn’t impressed with the room. It wasn’t very clean, the furniture had stains, and there was an odd smell. For the quality, it felt a bit overpriced. I stayed several years ago.
