The staff were courteous and gave us excellent service, and we'd definitely book here again. Our spacious room had a balcony with a sea view, and we really enjoyed looking out over the Bay of Islands.

Susie was working at the desk when we arrived. She was so warm and welcoming, and showed us around the lodge and our room. The rooms are beautiful, with amazing views, and we loved the big bathroom. Highly recommend!

I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this was really bad. The beds were uncomfortable and left us with back pain, and we were charged $60 more than the amount we'd been quoted. One window had no curtains, so the sun woke us all at 5am. The fan didn't work, which meant it was always hot. The room and decor were very old and dated. Our terrible room cost $460 for two nights. Save your money and book somewhere else, try Airbnb instead.

We think there may also have been fleas on the bed. The mosquitoes kept attacking us all night, so my husband and I couldn't sleep. I tried turning on the fan to get rid of them, but it wouldn't work. We both ended up with red insect bites all over our faces. The view was nice, but the room was really bad. I paid $165 for one night in a room full of mosquitoes. It was a horrible, completely worthless experience, the worst of my life. I went to the Clendon for a weekend trip with my husband and stayed one night. I also wanted to attach a photo of my forehead covered in bites, but couldn't find an option.

A peaceful spot with a great view of the beach and bush. The receptionist was lovely, the room was great, and it's beautiful here. I loved it and will definitely be back!
