Waiheke Island Motel

The room was really hot, and the fan we had didn’t work, so it felt even hotter inside than outside. We also had no view from the room. On our first day, the cleaner we met was lovely. Checkout was less pleasant: another cleaner knocked at 9:55am and told us, “chop chop, it’s leaving time you two.” She waited outside while I used the loo and zipped up my case. It came across as a bit rude. The hotel’s location was okay.

Just what we wanted for one night on Waiheke. The staff were happy to hold our bags before check-in and after checkout too. We’d definitely stay again.

The room was filthy and definitely didn’t seem sanitised. Bugs and mosquitoes were everywhere, and we were getting bitten all night, so barely slept. We left early because it was unbearable. The customer service was disappointing too, with staff disappearing and ignoring guests. Really disappointing for a place on Waiheke Island. Wouldn’t recommend it.

We spent most of the weekend relaxing on the deck, and the comfort was just right. We didn’t try the other amenities. The location is lovely, close to the shops, and there was a local community market down the road on Saturday that we enjoyed seeing. There was a small problem with the room key when we arrived, but Christine sorted it out incredibly quickly and kindly, and generously upgraded us to a four-bedroom house. Such a fantastic surprise, it made the trip special.
