Altamont Lodge

We had a lovely few nights here. The place was cosy, spotlessly clean and had great facilities, including a kitchen and laundry. The TV room was a nice spot to relax. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk to the main area, and vineyards and hikes are also within driving distance. A great place to stop and unwind.

A great location for an overnight stay. The lodge felt cosy, with a cabin or camp vibe, and the shared facilities still felt fairly private. The shared living room worked well for group activities or a bit of solo reading.

The staff made the lodge feel like a little community. Everyone I met was warm, friendly and happy to stop for a chat. They were also incredibly kind when I accidentally left behind something important. I hadn’t even given them my phone number, but they tracked me down through a number I’d called from earlier that week and made sure I got it back. That says a lot about the care they put into looking after guests. I slept especially well here. The rooms were thoughtfully spaced, and everyone respected the 10pm quiet time, which can be rare in shared accommodation. The shared spaces were open, cosy and social without feeling crowded. The huge kitchen was amazingly well equipped, with every utensil I could need, plus instant coffee and hot water always ready in the boiler. As a caffeine addict, I really appreciated that. Altamont Lodge was one of the best places I stayed on my whole trip. Thanks for being such a lovely part of my time in Wanaka. I’d recommend it in a heartbeat and will absolutely be back.

Jeff and Lynn were quick to help whenever we got in touch, and the lodge was great value. Our room, the bathrooms and kitchen were all very clean, with plenty of kitchen supplies. It’s on a quiet, tree-lined street about a 10-minute walk from the lake. We had a great stay.
