We woke to a stunning sunrise right outside the bedroom window. The place is right on the water in the Catlins and has everything you need. It’s been freshly refurbished and was spotless inside, with a nicely appointed kitchen. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The water view was lovely, and the bed was a good size and comfy. It’s a quiet area, and the place felt homely, like a little beach cottage. Better than we expected. Recommended.

This isn’t the Regent, but in summer everyone’s likely to be spending their time at the beach, right across the road. It’s a good spot for group getaways where everyone pitches in. The managers are nice, family people.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the unit was spacious, clean, and tidy. There’s a great view from the lounge and main bedroom. Sitting in our shoebox at the Hilton Queenstown, we wish we were back in Pounawea.

The grounds are clean and well kept, and the staff are lovely. There’s an amazing playground next door too. Definitely the best place to stay in Pounawea!
