Alfa Boutique Motel

We’d booked somewhere else but ran into problems with the reservation because of what we felt was Copthorne's greed, so we booked here at the last minute. Peter and Wendy, the couple who run it, are lovely. The place has old-world charm, with nice wooden furniture and cushions for relaxing in the evening. The beds are comfy, the shower and toilet are clean, and the small kitchen has everything needed for a holiday. Parking is below the rooms, and it’s probably best to leave the car there if you’re heading to nearby restaurants. The cruise departure points are close too.

The location is amazing, close to the beach, eateries, and shops. The rooms were very clean and tidy, and the lovely hosts made everything easy. It’s a small motel and incredibly dog friendly. We’ll be back.

Peter and Wendy were welcoming and easy to deal with during our two-night February stay at Alfa Boutique, while my husband and I were touring New Zealand’s North Island. Our roomy apartment had a queen bed and a single, two chairs for sitting, a small table, and two more chairs for eating. The kitchen had a stovetop, microwave, sink, fridge, and all the bits needed to cook a meal. There was also a balcony with chairs, a minisplit for heating or cooling, cable TV, and free fast Wi-Fi. We got 305 mbps download and 119 mbps upload. The bathroom was clean and had a shower, and the bed was comfortable and clean. You can park below the apartments or on the street. Restaurants and shops are only minutes away on foot, even quicker by car, and the beautiful beach is a block away. A wonderful place to stay!

The beach is practically on your doorstep, with the township an easy walk away and plenty of restaurants nearby. Some eateries are dog friendly too. We had another lovely stay at Alfa Motel, which is dog friendly, and the hosts were welcoming and helpful. We’ve been before and the units are always well presented. The studios have handy kitchenettes, but this time we were in the family unit during the winter school holidays. It was warm and cosy, with a fully equipped kitchen, large TV, comfortable seating, and a dining table that was great for games. I highly recommend it.
