It was handy and quiet, but the apartment felt badly in need of an overhaul. There was a musty smell, peeling on the sofa, rust on the shower curtain rod and a hole in the bedroom door. The supposed double bed was two singles pushed together and very uncomfortable. After seeing the good online reviews, we were disappointed. Honestly, it’s been our worst stay in NZ so far.

It was cheap, but the room needs renovating. The carpet could do with a proper clean, and the boards around the shower and elsewhere in the bathroom were rotting. There was only Sky TV, with no movie channels, and the shower had a curtain and a fixed head. The room had an unusual motel smell, musty underneath what seemed like air freshener.

The room had just been renovated and was lovely. I was there for one night in January, and the owners were very nice and obliging.

The rooms were spotless, the beds were amazing, and the service was great. Avenue Motel is affordable and gives you quick access to all the amenities. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay, and I'll definitely be back.

A great value for an overnight stop. The unit was quiet and clean, with a super comfy bed, and the central location made it easy to walk to all the amenities.
