U Studios Paraparaumu

I can’t say enough about how disappointing this place was. It’s run down, there were stains on the bedding, and the bathroom tile grout was black. It seemed like a lot of permanent guests lived there. If K.O. or emergency housing is what you’re after, go for it, but I’d stay anywhere else. In Room 6, you can hear the laundry dryer all night. The laundry is locked and only permanent guests can access it. This shouldn’t come up in a Google search. Edit: absolutely rubbish. STAY AWAY.

The location is handy for restaurants and the golf club. This time, though, the TV had a dodgy dark band across the top half, and the fridge stopped working. I lost the food I’d bought from the 4square opposite.

The location was great, but the state of the place was a massive letdown. We stayed with family and were shocked by how dirty and run down it was. There was urine on the toilet seat and floor, mould throughout the shower, and the window wouldn’t shut properly. The kitchen hadn’t been cleaned, and rubbish from previous guests was still there. The beds looked tidy at first, but none of us would sleep under the covers. The mattress felt old, neglected, and uncomfortable. There were so many health and safety issues, and the whole place seemed unmaintained and unhygienic. The online photos were completely misleading. I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Getting the room key was easy and convenient, and the room was nice. The bed was comfortable. A great experience.
