Amity Serviced Apartments

We had a small functional kitchen and an outdoor seating spot where we could relax in the fresh air. The apartment was spacious and comfortable after a day out, and we found it clean, practical and good value, especially for such a central location. It isn’t luxurious or especially modern, but had what we needed. We stayed two nights and could walk into Queenstown centre to explore the shops, restaurants and waterfront without the car. The location by the lake and among the mountains was lovely, and it also worked well as a base for nearby hiking trails and day trips.

The only thing that worked well was the heating. I rated it four stars, but the quality and service felt below three. During my two days there, the room wasn’t cleaned at all, despite daily cleaning apparently being offered. The Wi-Fi was unreliable, making TV and satellite viewing frustrating. Reception involved long waits and the staff weren’t helpful. Several advertised items weren’t provided, including hairdryers, irons, coffee makers, room service and electric blankets. If you arrive early, there’s nowhere to sit or use a toilet in reception while waiting for your room, even if you’ve arranged it in advance.

Ujay, the manager, was incredibly kind and made us feel welcome. We really enjoyed staying here. The room was clean and cosy, and it’s in a perfect spot close to the town centre. We’d happily recommend it, and it’ll be our first choice next time we stay in Queenstown.

I spent nearly two weeks trying to book a wheelchair-accessible apartment. The hotel asked for the wheelchair width, which I supplied, then confirmed that an accessible unit was available for my dates and said I could book. I kept saying I was ready to pay and asking how to do it, but they never let me book or pay. After that they stopped replying to my follow-up emails. I also tried calling from overseas, which cost extra, but no one picked up or responded to my voicemail, even though I called in the middle of a workday. That wasted two weeks and I missed out on accessible options elsewhere. Those places are hard to find, and you can lose them if you don’t book early. This was extremely rude to any customer, and downright cruel to wheelchair users. I would never recommend this place to anyone, and I’ll tell family and friends to stay far away if they visit Queenstown.
