Chalet Queenstown

The Chalet Hotel charged me for all three days even though my flight to New Zealand was cancelled for reasons completely outside my control. They showed no understanding or care and weren't helpful at all. I was basically told, “too bad.” I've never had a hotel treat me with such inflexibility and dismissiveness. I won't stay here again, and I'd strongly advise others to avoid it.

The place is cute, the woman at check-in was nice, the view is solid, and you can walk to everything in Queenstown. But the rooms badly need better noise isolation. Lying in bed, I could hear our neighbour showering, and it sounded like being in a metal box during a rainstorm. Hallway doors squeak loudly enough for the whole floor to hear, and even a quiet conversation out there comes through word for word. The bathroom fan also looks as if it hasn't been cleaned in five years. I can't recommend staying here.

The breakfast was fantastic, with an à la carte menu. We had to leave early, and they kindly put together a continental breakfast tray for us. The TV kept my husband entertained too. Our rooms were clean, modern, spacious and comfortable, and the hosts were friendly and accommodating. Town was about a ten-minute walk away, or two bus stops.

We arrived a day late, thanks to Jetstar, and were glad to find clean, well laid-out rooms in a great location, an easy walk from town. The owners welcomed us warmly, and just look at that view. Breakfast is fantastic too. We're very happy with our hotel choice, and it's definitely where we'd stay on a return trip. A real gem with high reviews it deserves.
