The place had a great breakfast, enough to set us up for a full day out, and the rooms and facilities were very comfortable. For a heritage accommodation, everything was commendable. I’d rate it above some newer, more upmarket places I’ve stayed in. We had to find somewhere at short notice after realizing our other accommodation booking had never been confirmed. We found this place and booked on the day we arrived, a Thursday before a busy weekend. The desk helped us get in, though because it was so busy we had to change rooms during the stay. That was no problem for the staff. There were fantastic lake views from much of the property, including the king room we had on our first night. Thanks, guys.

We stayed two nights this month. The view was lovely and the bed was amazing, but I wouldn’t say this place deserves four stars. Our room had very old, chipped furniture, and there weren’t even tissues or a bottle opener. After paying over $450 a night, another $15 per night felt excessive. Pam W Sushine Coast Australia.

The lake and mountain views were a plus, and secure parking at $15 a night seemed reasonable. There were plenty of accommodation options in Queenstown, though. The hotel felt dated in places, and the room was okay but unremarkable. The mattress was much too soft, the toilet was cramped into the bathroom, and noise from adjoining rooms carried at times despite the older building. The hotel bar closing at 9pm was a surprise. Wi-Fi was poor, with slow spells and dropouts. Rooms on level 2 of block 1 can’t be reached by lift, so we had to take our suitcases up stairs. That was fine for us, but some people would struggle. The TV did have lots of sports channels.

The breakfast setup was disorganized. Even though we were checked in and had our room number, we were told to queue outside while empty seats remained in the dining room. We ended up missing breakfast entirely, which disrupted our plans for the day. Our room was next to the elevator, and the constant noise made it hard to rest. The bathroom drain cover was missing, so shower water built up and spread across the floor, creating hygiene and safety concerns. Staff also moved our sleepwear from the bed onto the table without asking. That felt disrespectful and unprofessional. The stay fell well short of basic expectations, with problems in service, maintenance, and management. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to other travellers.

Really enjoyed my stay here. It’s only about a 10 minute walk to downtown Queenstown, and the secure garage parking costs 15NZD a night. There’s also a complimentary private spa. The staff were extremely nice and friendly.
