We stayed at eight hotels while traveling around New Zealand, and this was my favorite. The furniture was comfortable, the decor homey and cute, and everything was clean when we arrived. The fireplace made the cold autumn nights peaceful and cozy. It’s right across the street from the lake and a short walk from a playground. With my two young kids setting the pace, it took us 10 minutes to reach the shopping center, close enough to be convenient but not so close that we heard people all night. We stayed five nights at the Esplanade and would definitely come back to Queenstown.

We’ve stayed here twice in 18 months, and it’s been fantastic both times. The staff, location, and views are all wonderful, and it’s worth every dollar. This has become our home away from home.

Our family of four recently stayed at Unit 9. The villa has a great location and an amazing view of the lake and snow-capped mountain. It’s near enough to the town centre without the noise. The kitchen has what you need for simple meals, and they kindly gave us a late checkout at short notice.

The rooms had a strong paint-like smell when we arrived, especially at night once the humidity set in, and the setting could use improvement. The first person sent after we called the owner was rude and had a terrible attitude. Later, two other managers came by, apologized for him, brought fans and air fresheners, and helped switch on the AC. I really appreciated how quickly they responded and how the later managers tried to improve our stay.

We had a great stay at Esplanade in Queenstown. It was easy to walk into town in about 10 minutes, or drive there in two. The location was lovely. Staff quickly helped when our TV had a problem, and they also arranged a late checkout for us. I'd happily stay here again.
