I stayed for a month and a half, and this hostel started to feel like home. The staff are kind, and I met some really nice people here. It’s clean and spacious, with a great view over Queenstown, though it’s a little way from the centre. The three houses have three kitchens, so they never felt crowded. The beds don’t squeak and have a power outlet, lights, and a curtain. That’s all I need. Great value for money in Queenstown, highly recommend.

My flight was cancelled late at night on 23/1/26, leaving me stranded in Queenstown. The manager was incredibly kind. He gave me the hostel’s last bed, stayed up well past closing to meet me, showed me around, and made sure I was okay. He even gave me a towel so I could shower. I was very lucky to meet such a nice man.

The room smelled of sweat and dust, so I ended up sleeping in my car. It seemed like several people had been staying there for ages and had made themselves at home, with dirty clothes hanging everywhere. Other tenants had left shampoo and soap in the shower. Quiet time was supposed to start at 10:30 PM, but people were still on the balcony playing music and laughing. I’ll stick with a DOC campsite next time.

Run-down, dirty and messy, more like workers’ accommodation or a frat house. I booked two nights and stayed for one. The hostel staff showed little regard for quiet time after 10:30 PM. Disappointed, and I don’t recommend it.

The price was okay and the hostel itself was fine, but it was easily the loudest one I’ve stayed in in NZ. Doors banged late at night, and people smoked outside the rooms and ignored quiet hours. I couldn’t sleep at all, so I won’t be back.
