Mantra the Point

Mr Vinod, the General Manager, was so friendly and helpful. When we left an item behind, he took care of it and sent it on to our next hotel. We really appreciate that. Our stay at Mantra The Point Queenstown was amazing: the apartment was clean, cozy and spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and living room opening onto a phenomenal lake view. The location was excellent too.

We got good value for money, but a few things made this hard to rate. We stayed one night, then came back a few days later for two more, in the same ground-floor room with a nice lake view. Nearby rooms were being refurbished, though, and tradesmen kept walking past our window. We couldn't leave the curtains open to enjoy the view. It wasn't so noticeable the first time, but if we'd known, we would've asked for another room on our return. The first visit was fine: the fridge worked and the kitchenette had coffee and milk. On the second, we didn't realize the fridge had been unplugged and had put breakfast food in it. Luckily we noticed before anything spoiled. The milk hadn't been replenished either. That first night back, there was no hot water when my husband went to shower after me, though it was fine again in the morning. We didn't report any of this. The property is on a slope, parking space is limited, and getting to reception is difficult. We were also rushing at checkout, so sorry to the staff if this review is a surprise.

We had a great time here and would book again when we make it back. The apartment had a huge L-shaped couch, a comfy king bed, a full kitchen and a balcony looking out at the pristine lake and mountains. We were delighted to arrange a 1:30 pm check-in, then even more pleased to find our studio had been upgraded for free to a whole two-storey apartment. One small annoyance: room service was available from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, but our calls didn't get through and our voicemails weren't answered. Even so, it was really good value and an enjoyable stay.

Our apartment was roomy and laid out well, with spectacular views from the room. It was well equipped, though it could use some updating, and the cleaners let the place down. Parking was manageable, even with a tight spot and very steep driveway. That's part of the setting.
