Mi-pad Queenstown

The location is great, but this felt like very poor value compared with other places in similar spots. We booked a deluxe queen and were surprised by how small it was. Its tiny corner window looked over the back highway and didn't open. We tried swapping rooms because the bed was unbearably squeaky. The only option was another room on the same floor, without the mountain or lake view promised for a deluxe queen. I understand it was the only room available, but no one acknowledged the downgrade or offered anything. The original deluxe room had the same setup, just with a lake view. The lift was out of service for our whole stay. Staff carrying our bags upstairs was fantastic, but the situation was still less than ideal. The promised mi-pad my concierge app also wouldn't work, and reception couldn't get it going when we asked for help. The doors from the hallway were really loud. The shower and toilet are separate, but the towel rail is in the toilet, while the sink is in the main room. It's a crazy design.

We were there over Christmas and woke up to a stocking on our door, full of little treats, with a card. Such a sweet, thoughtful gesture. The staff were SO nice and helpful, really going above and beyond. We loved staying at mi-pad: it was great value, the room was comfy, and the rooftop was great. The location also made it easy to explore Queenstown.

For this price, coffee or tea should be the bare minimum, but there was none. The room was clean, just quite small, and had no drawers. The sink was by the door. That bathroom setup with no walls gives you no privacy at all. The toilet room's automatic light switched on whenever someone stepped in, which was stupid and annoying at night when another person was sleeping.

The bed was super comfortable and the room was well set up. Staff were very friendly, and the location was great. Each floor having vending machines and an ice maker was handy. Just be aware there are no bar fridges in the rooms. I guess that helps keep the rates reasonable. I hoped to hire a portable fridge, but that wasn't an option at the time. I had a great stay and would definitely come back.
