We stayed in the lighthouse room with our small baby. Its tremendous view was lovely to wake up to each day, and the room had a spacious shower and a comfortable king bed. The rooms are a little dated, but that’s part of the cottage-style character, and ours was very clean and roomy. It’s close to Queenstown central and Frankton. Just be aware that you have to climb stairs to reach the room, which could be an issue with heavy bags or for disabled guests. There’s no room service or daily housekeeping, but we mostly ate out or ordered delivery. We really liked the unique stay and highly recommend it.

It was so quiet and peaceful that we sometimes didn’t want to leave the room to explore. The property has lovely views of the lake and mountains, and it’s a short drive to Queenstown and Frankton, where there are plenty of places to eat. Our room was quiet and tidy, with a clean shower and good water pressure. It did feel a bit cold, though, and the heating struggled to warm it, especially the bathroom. You can’t easily walk to restaurants from here, but that’s part of what makes it peaceful. A very nice spot for a quiet getaway.

Breathtaking views and an easy-to-find location. We loved our stay in this warm, cozy boutique, and there were enough utensils provided.

We’ve had two frustrating days at LightHouse, even though the house is beautiful inside and out and the windows have great views. My wife and I are here for our first trip to New Zealand, which is also our honeymoon. I’m writing this from the room floor while she waits for the hot water to heat so she can shower. There were several housekeeping problems: a chocolate wrapper from the previous guest was in the fridge, hair was stuck to the shower wall, the sensor bin in the toilet had no power, and several room light bulbs were out. Most upsetting, the bath’s hot water only filled it about a quarter of the way, leaving cold water. In this weather, do guests really need to take a cold shower? I respected the information provided before check-in, including the promise of “five-star hotel treatment.” Now I feel disrespected and have doubts about management and cleanliness. Maybe Queenstown has enough tourists that the property isn’t worried about finding guests, but I still want to be honest about the experience. Many Booking.com reviews describe similar problems. It seems to me that you don’t care as long as you keep making money, but this kind of business can’t last.
