It’s incredible, and such a change from many places these days. The rooms are comfortable and warm with radiators, and there’s a communal kitchen. Nothing fancy, but everything you need, and it runs on a high-trust model. I’ll never stay anywhere else in Reefton.

It’s a bit pricey for what it is, but I really enjoyed staying here. The old Nurses Home is close to the Reefton town centre, with the hospital once standing across the road. I remember friends living in a Nurses Home when I was a teenager, and it was spartan and practical, with endless white everywhere. This place felt just the same, straight out of the 1970s. Some people might find it dull and unattractive, without much emotional intrigue.

The staff were kind and very nice. When our car broke down, we needed to book another room after our original booking, and a lovely lady came to help us make the reservation. The place itself was lovely and clean, with hot water, laundry facilities, a beautiful garden, guest kitchen and a nice shared living room with games.

The room was clean and comfortable, as were the bathroom facilities, and reception gave excellent service. It’s an easy walk into town and great value for a stay in Reefton NZ.

This historic building has been lovingly restored, while keeping the fixtures and fittings from its time as part of Reefton’s health system. It’s a real piece of history, just a short walk from the shops and cafes. Our hostess was warm and friendly, the room was comfortable, and we loved the large terrace and garden. Very good value, you won’t be disappointed.
