The room was awful. It was tiny, the paint was peeling, the spa was filthy, and the place smelled like cat piss. The room photos made it look much better than it was. We could hear people walking upstairs at all hours, and I even found a knife in the couch! Getting a refund for the second night was nearly impossible. The woman at the counter had to call the manager, who kept making excuses about not coming back because he was in hospital and could be there at 3 pm. When I said I could get the place shut down sooner than tomorrow, suddenly he could come in two hours, then an hour, then half an hour, and finally just before 9 am. Definitely don’t recommend it.

Yuri made check-in easy and gave us ideas for things to do nearby. The staff were very helpful, and the rooms were spacious for the price. We had our cat with us, and she was comfortable and happy here. Ace motor lodge is a budget-friendly, pet-friendly place right in the city, with groceries, restaurants, and fuel stations close by. Activities and excursions were within a 20-minute drive. They also have two-storey family rooms. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The location was handy for most attractions and the shopping precinct, but the room had a lot of problems. It was about 30 degrees during our two-night visit, and there was no air conditioning. Cars were only two feet from our window because the room faced the car park. The bed was well past its replacement date, there was only one pillow per person, nowhere to hang clothes, and no space to open a suitcase. The whole place needs updating. And if they can’t offer a clean spa without cracks, they shouldn’t have one.

We needed a last-minute place while travelling with dogs, which limited our choices. Everything is old, but it was very clean and comfortable. The bed was comfy and the showers were nice and hot. Nothing fancy, but we were happy with it for the price.

One of the few places in Rotorua that takes dogs. Our unit was clean and handy to town, and the staff were friendly and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Hope we didn’t ruin your dinner! Thanks for a lovely stay.
