The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the room was spacious and clean. The hotel is handy for Rotorua’s sights, with the Gondola practically across the road. My only gripe is the TV. After a full day out, it’d be nice to relax with a favourite show on Netflix, but that wasn’t possible. I’m baffled that a hotel in 2026 doesn’t have a smart TV. Be warned, NZ TV is God awful.

Awa Hotel felt welcoming, with friendly hospitality and facilities that were well maintained. The rooms had what was needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay, and the lobby and dining spaces all seemed thoughtfully cared for. I left feeling satisfied and at ease.

After a busy day, the calm atmosphere at Awa Hotel was a welcome place to unwind. Our room had plenty of space and what we needed for a restful stay. The facilities were clean, and service was prompt. We left feeling refreshed and well looked after.
