Ibis Rotorua

The room was comfortable and clean, and the location was great. It's quite basic for the price, which was higher because the ultra-marathon was on that weekend. Air conditioning in the hallway caused a whistling noise under our door. Staff kindly stopped it by putting a towel at the door's base, though a lasting fix would be good.

The clean bedding and comfortable bed were the one good part of our Ibis Hotel stay. The mini bar was highlighted as an extra, but the fridge was empty. We reported the problems at reception: they sorted out the phone issue, but nothing else. The toilet door lock was broken, and water kept dripping into the toilet pan. A card in the room said a Chrome Cast was available for watching our programmer, but it wasn't. I tried guest services several times that night and again the next morning, with no answer. Check-in was listed from 2 pm, but our room wasn't ready when we arrived at 3. They told us to go away and come back, saying our room would be prioritized. Several other travellers were waiting too, and it looked like they were being told the same thing. We came back at 5, after what felt like a generous two hours, only to be told it still wasn't ready and to come back again. I said we'd already done that and had a booking we needed to get changed for. He finally made getting us a room a priority. It was smaller than we'd expected, but we accepted that. The Ibis was the only thing that spoiled our first holiday in Rotorua. There are great things to see and do there, and the hotel isn't one of them.

The lovely staff at Ibis Rotorua made our short family break wonderful. My husband and I stayed with our 5 year old, and I was beyond impressed with the rooms, facilities and service for the price. We were very happy with the free parking, breakfast with heaps of delicious options, and access to the Novotel pool and gym. Thank you!

The hotel was just what we needed, comfortable and well located. We had a great stay at Ibis Rotorua. The breakfast buffet was excellent and a lovely way to start the day, and having free laundry while travelling was a huge bonus.
