We parked our rental car right outside our room, which was a nice bonus. The motel is across from the lake, with an easy walk to Eat Street, downtown, and the nearby park for some time outdoors. The owner was very friendly and suggested lots of local activities. Our room had the basic amenities, extra bedding for colder weather, and a small kitchenette for cooking if needed. We stayed earlier this year while exploring other parts of the NZ area, and I'd consider staying here again.

Our NZ trip was a mess, with cancelled flights and lost luggage, but these folks were incredible. They lent us umbrellas, helped with laundry, and handled an extremely late check-in without complaint. I'd absolutely recommend them.

If you want a lake view, you'll need room 7, 8, 9, 10, or 11. We were in room 14 upstairs, and it looked out at the back of the office block next door. The studio was quiet at night, very clean, and recently refurbished, so it did the job, though it had no real style or charm, which seems pretty standard for NZ motels. The location is hard to beat, right across from the beautifully redeveloped lakefront reserve and just a short walk from Eat Street.
