Korepo Lodge

We marked a 70th birthday with a long weekend at Korepo Lodge, and it worked beautifully for the occasion. The lodge was quiet, clean, roomy, and still felt homely. We needed another house for some of our guests to sleep in, but that arrangement worked well. There was lots to enjoy back at the house: the two lounges gave us space to read and laugh, and the big table was great for board games when we weren't eating. The open fire was welcoming, and the controlled heating kept the whole place cosy even in mid July. People also noticed the architecture, the views, and the books. With suggestions from our hosts, we planned our own wine tour. We cooked a roast and an indoor bbq, ate out once, and hosted local friends at the lodge with food and birthday cakes from the local bakery. A weekend to remember!

The building and location were both five star, and we had an amazing time during our group stay from 24-25 June 2023. It was stunning, very tidy, and the amenities and equipment were high quality. The fire alarm system and emergency exit signs were reassuring to see in this kind of setting. No complaints at all, just an incredible place.

I loved the place, and it even gave me some inspiration as a guitarist ;) We were there for a 70th birthday, and the spacious, warm house was laid out really well. Having an ensuite in every room was a blessing, and the handcrafted dining tables were spectacular. The fast wifi kept us connected to the outside world. It’s not far from Mapua township if you want shops or cafes, and it’s not too far off the beaten track. The price was great and affordable when split across a group.

We finished our three days biking the Great Tasman Taste Trail with 12 women from Christchurch at Korepo Lodge, and it was a glorious end to a lovely trip. Our host welcomed us warmly and showed us into a luxurious, tastefully furnished lodge. The atmospheric logburner, lovely furniture, and very comfortable beds all added to a wonderful stay.
