Amble In Motel

A local real estate agent happened to arrive and quickly explained what was going on. This site 4km south of Stratford was still taking online bookings, but when I got there on Saturday afternoon, 25th October 2025, the whole place was being used to house immigrants working at a local business. No one could speak English, and there was no useful communication about the booking I had made and paid $145 for. The property is run down and not suitable for a pleasant stopover. I was told suitable signs saying it is closed would be put up soon.

Morena, I stayed here from 1-2-3-4 march 2024 and wow, what a place. The room was beautifully presented and had everything I needed. I also had a trailer, and when I asked where to leave it, they showed me a paddock. The shower tray and kitchen bench were so shiny I still can't get over it. Amazing place, and I'd definitely recommend staying here.

The owners clearly put a lot of care into keeping the property in good shape, and the cleanliness really stood out. Our room was practical, with the usual amenities for a self-contained motel unit. The barbecue area is lovely, there's a small playground nearby, and the property's history is worth a read. After a morning swim, we left our wet togs and clothes outside to dry while we went out for the day. When we got back, everything had been brought in when it started raining, put through the dryer, and folded in our room. They'd also switched on the heat pump, so the unit was warm when we returned. The attention to detail and customer service impressed us. Thank you.

They still accept bookings online, but this place no longer operates as a motel and is being used as a boarding house. When you arrive, there's a sign on the door saying it's closed, and you have to check your bank account to make sure the payment hasn't gone through. It would be easy for them to take down their booking site, so I'm not sure why they don't. DO NOT BOOK THIS MOTEL.
