Adventure Taupō Hostel

I stayed for a week, just a couple of weeks after the hostel opened. The lake and mountain views from the balcony were lovely, and there’s a big lounge with games to play together. The beds are sturdy and have privacy curtains, and there are plenty of clean showers so I never had to wait. The kitchen was brand new and well equipped, with sharp knives, lots of hobs and sinks for cooking and washing up. Fantastic hostel.

The staff were brilliant, and everything was immaculate. There’s a gaming lounge with Netflix and a really modern kitchen, all kept tidy. It’s also an easy walk to town and the lake. I was a first-time guest, sharing a dorm with five other guys for one night, and expected it to feel awkward. It didn’t at all. They were easygoing and respectful. After my long bus ride I went to bed first, and they came in about three hours later as quiet as mice. Honestly, I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for accommodation. The rooms are comfortable and the bed linen is nice. The kitchen was easily the best equipped hostel kitchen I’ve come across. It had only opened two weeks before my stay, yet the accommodation was already really good. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in, and I’d recommend it.

The view was amazing, and I’m so glad I stayed. Jo & Oli made the whole visit really pleasant. I’d recommend this place just for the phenomenal beds and showers, never mind the great hosts.
