Beechtree Motel

The free laundry was a real bonus, with washing powder supplied and good machines. We also found it easy to pick up meals or essentials, with a well-stocked convenience store across the street, a café with good food and a Chinese takeaway open until 9pm. We stayed in two Triple Studio rooms, Rooms 19 & 20, and one Queen Studio, Room 24. Everything was clean, comfortable and well maintained, and room service was very good. There were plenty of useful amenities, as well as lots of parking, both sheltered and open. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional throughout. The location felt peaceful, away from the busy main streets, but still close to what we needed. We loved our stay at BeechTree Suites and would happily come back. It seems like a good choice for families or larger groups looking for comfort and value. Thank you, well done.

Clean room, comfy bed, friendly staff. Tea and coffee, with milk provided, was a nice touch, and there’s Sky TV. The toilet paper was good quality too. It’s a short walk to the lake and town centre, and the price felt like good value. I’d stay again.

The bathroom hair dryer overheated and stopped working. We told the staff, who were very apologetic. When we came back from dinner, they’d already put a replacement in our room. Great service. The motel was clean and tidy.

We had three nights here, and the large guest room kitchenette worked well for breakfasts and takeaway meals. It had a fridge, sink, plates, utensils and microwave. The bed was the most comfortable one my wife and I have had, and the two heater elements came in handy during late spring rain, hail and mist. The housekeeping team were neat, organized, kind and accommodating. We often left mid-morning, after other guests had gone, and appreciated how quietly and calmly they worked. The second floor was a bit of a climb with our two 23 kg suitcases from our Summer in America, especially without an elevator. But it paid off with a direct view of Lake Taupo and Acacia Bay nearby. We were just several hundred metres from the waterfront walkway. There are waterfront places too, of course, but this distance and view suited us. Parking was good, with ample sized doubles under cover and direct access to the stairs. Scott was great. We arrived a little under an hour early just to get familiar with the property before check-in. When he asked about our reservation, we gave our daughter's name, as she was due in another hour, and he kindly offered us a key so we could check in early. We should apologize to Scott: he gave us the lakeview room booked in advance by John for our daughter and granddaughters. Our room was meant to be #34, not #13, since we didn’t know our exact travel plans until later. That mix-up led to an argumentative, heated call from John, which wasn’t warranted. We did everything we could to hand the room over to our daughter and granddaughter, but they wouldn’t take it. The weather would have blocked the lake view anyway, so things evened out. We’ll give John 13 lashes when we see him 😉. Sorry, Scott 🙏
