Gables Lakefront Motel

UPDATE: The hotel replied in a strange way, bringing up things that don’t matter, like when someone posts a review after their stay. My opinion hasn’t changed: this place isn’t worth more than $200 a night. The furniture and furnishings are basic and low quality. Without a car, the walk to the city centre is long. The attached map shows exactly 1.8 km, despite what they claim. We booked a room with a hot tub, but the water was far too hot to get into, much hotter than any hot spring I’ve been in. There was no emergency button or anything like that. They tried to fix it, but couldn’t adjust or control the temperature to make it comfortable or safe. It’s a low end, basic motel that feels run down and poorly maintained, and the management didn’t seem very professional. The sheets and furniture are old. There’s no dishwasher, oven, or washing machine. I’d stay only if there were no other choice, and definitely wouldn’t pick it for a special occasion or a treat.

The rooms, beds, and utilities are all great, and the hosts are lovely. When I book a room with a private spa, I get to unwind with a relaxing evening. I’ve tried several other places in Taupo, but Gables is unbeatable for me. I’m here on business trips around the area every three months and have made it my regular stay. Once I found it, I kept coming back. Would give it 10 stars if I could.

Everything went smoothly, from check-in to check-out, and the hospitality was excellent. Gables Lakefront has a beautiful lakeside setting and a calm, relaxing feel. The rooms are very well kept. A perfect spot for comfort, views, and convenience. I’ll definitely be back.

We stayed over Iron-man weekend, which added a bit of entertainment. The owners were incredibly polite and welcoming, and the surroundings were peaceful, with lovely views of the lake. It’s a beautiful place to stay, just a short walk into town. We’d stay again and highly recommend it.
