The Tauranga On The Waterfront

We had such a lovely time here, and Angie, Michelle and the manager, Nikki, looked after us so well. The apartment was spotless, nicely furnished and came with an incredible bay view. It was quiet despite being close to town, and each apartment has its own reserved parking space. Fresh milk in a little bottle for coffee and the wonderful bath products were lovely touches. I even went for a swim after a short walk down the steps. I'd go back tomorrow if it weren't nearly 19,000 km away! I made some very amateur videos of the view and the « lived in » apartment, but trust me, it was amazing!!!

You can get into town in about 2 minutes on foot for food, entertainment and shopping. The views are lovely if you book a waterfront room. Our room was a decent size and open plan, though privacy was limited. I'm not keen on the glass bathroom doors, and a few lights didn't work, perhaps because replacement bulbs aren't available. The office wasn't staffed all the time, but someone could usually be found when needed. Housekeeping tidied the beds, though they weren't always properly made. The accommodation was clean and comfortable overall.

The staff made us feel at home, and the reception lady was so nice, welcoming us and treating us calmly. Our room was spacious, clean and had all the amenities we needed. It was also a perfect base for sightseeing. We had a wonderful stay! 😊

The bed bug concerns I sent by email were dismissed, even though a previous guest had reported bed bugs too. The only reassurance offered was that the property gets fumigated once a year. With two recent complaints, that lack of accountability was very disappointing. On checkout I rang the reception bell and got no response, so I had to leave. When we arrived, the room smelled strongly musty and needed airing out. It was noticeably fresher outside. The rooms are dated, and the photos don't match what you find. There was no milk, the glassware was dirty, and a cleaner turned up on our patio 10 minutes before checkout, which felt abrupt. A poor stay, and not as advertised.
